The trip starts with a sightseeing tour of Romania’s capital city – the lovely Bucharest! The highlights of the city are the Old Quarter of Lipskani, its beautiful large squares and boulevards. The Old Quarter resembles a bizarre maze of cobbled streets lined with countless cafes and bars, souvenir and antique shops, theaters and bookstores. A panoramic bus tour will allow you to see the Uniri Square, University Square, Victoria Square and the Square of the Revolution. A photo stop is scheduled in front of the Parliament – of of the largest administrative buildings in the world combining Communist exterior with contemporary interior.
The trip continues up the Carpathian Mountains for dinner and overnight in one of the mountain resorts.
The second day is dedicated to a castle, a palace and a monastery.
First you will visit Dracula’s Castle in Bran. Built in 14 century on a high rock the castle was originally the hunting residence of Prince Vlad of Romania. Prince Vlad is supposed to be the prototype of the legends and Bram Stokers’ novel describing Count Dracula.
Next stop will be in Sinaia known as the Carpathian Pearl famous for its natural beauty and historical heritage. The town is named after the 17-century Sinaia Monastery with magnificent icons and murals. Peles Castle is the former summer residence of the Romanian kings during the 18-19 centuries beautifully recreating the old-time interior and atmosphere.
