The visit of the old capital of Bulgaria – Veliko Turnovo, starts with a walk around the Mediaeval fortress walls and palaces preserved on the historical hill of Tsarevets. A breathtaking panorama reveils from the Patriarchal church on top of the hill surrounded by the lazy meanders of Yantra River. After lunch there will be free time at Samovodene market street where craftsmen are at work and there is a great choice of hand-made souvenirs.
The village Arbanassi is famous for its authentic and cozy atmosphere. Its history is closely connected with Veliko Turnovo as it used to be favourite summer residence for the high officials and an important trade center. The village is an architectural reserve today. There are numerous
historical buildings and old houses. The houses of the old merchants resemble impregnable fortresses from outside but their interior is beautifully decorated.
Visit to the “Holy Mother of God” Arbanassi Monastery dating back from the 12. century. There are precious wall paintings and the miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary.
Visit to “St. Peter and Paul” Lyaskovo Monastery famous for its close connections with the Bulgarian history and the incredible panoramic view.
